Common errors
Converting a PNG with transparent areas to JPEG doesn't keep those areas see-through - JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparency gets filled in with a solid white background during conversion. Keep it as PNG, or use WEBP, if transparency needs to survive.

Does converting a transparent PNG to JPEG keep the transparency?
No - JPEG doesn't support an alpha channel, so any transparent pixels are filled with white before the file is saved. If you need to keep transparency, stay on PNG or convert to WEBP instead.
Does this also resize my image?
No, the pixel dimensions are left exactly as uploaded. Only the file format and, for lossy formats, the compression quality change. Use the Image Resizer if you need different dimensions.
Why did my converted file end up larger than the original?
It depends on the source and target: converting a heavily compressed JPEG to a high quality setting, or to lossless PNG, can produce a bigger file than you started with. The size comparison shown in the tool reflects the actual result, not an estimate.
