When you'd use this
Cutting a photo down to a specific platform ratio, a square for a profile picture or 16:9 for a video thumbnail, without squashing the subject. Trimming unwanted background, a stray edge, or someone else in frame out of a shot before you share it.
Straightening a photo that was shot at an angle. Rotate it 90° at a time and flip it horizontally or vertically before drawing the crop box, so the exported image comes out both level and cropped in one pass.
Common errors
Switching aspect ratio presets after you've already positioned the crop box snaps the box to the new ratio, which can shift its position. Picking the ratio first and fine-tuning the box afterwards is more predictable.
Flip is a toggle, not a free rotation: clicking it mirrors the image, and clicking it again restores the original orientation. There's no partial flip or free-angle rotate, only fixed 90° left and right turns.

Does the crop keep my image's original file format?
It doesn't. The download is always a PNG, whatever the source was: JPEG, WEBP, anything else. Run the result through the Image Converter if you need a different output format afterward.
What does 'Free Aspect' mean versus the ratio presets?
