A PayPal QR code holds your PayPal.me link, with an amount and currency already in it if you want them, so a person who scans it lands on your payment page with the figure filled in instead of typing your name into PayPal and asking how much to send.
This tool builds the code in your browser. Type your PayPal.me name, set an amount if the price is fixed, and download a PNG or SVG. Nothing is sent to a server, and the page keeps no record of what you typed.
What the code contains
The code holds a plain web link in PayPal.me's own format: https://www.paypal.me/yourname on its own, or https://www.paypal.me/yourname/25USD when an amount and currency are set, with the amount and the three-letter currency code run together the way PayPal.me reads them. The panel under the preview shows the exact string, so you can confirm nothing has been added to it.
When someone scans it, the phone opens the link in the browser, or in the PayPal app on a phone that has it installed and set to handle PayPal links. PayPal takes over from there: the payer signs in, sees the amount, and confirms. This tool never touches the payment itself.
What you can type
The name field accepts your PayPal.me name on its own, the same name with a leading @, or your PayPal.me link pasted in with or without the https:// in front. The name is lifted out of the link. If the pasted link already carried an amount and currency, such as /25USD, they are kept, unless you type an amount into the Amount field, in which case the field wins.
A PayPal.me name is letters and digits only, up to 20 characters, and the tool checks for that shape. A value with a dot, hyphen or space in the name itself shows the message that a PayPal.me name is letters and numbers only, and the download button stays disabled until it passes.
Amount and currency
Leave the amount blank for a code that opens your page and lets the payer type the figure, which suits tips, donations and anything priced per order. Set it for a fixed price, such as a ticket, a deposit or a menu item, so the payer only has to confirm.
The amount must be a positive number with at most two decimal places; 250 and 99.50 pass, 99.505 does not. The currency is a three-letter code such as USD, EUR, GBP or INR. The field turns what you type into capitals and stops at three letters, and a code that is not three letters is rejected. Leave the currency blank and PayPal applies its own default when the link opens; set it to pin the currency the payer sees.
A currency with no amount is ignored, since PayPal.me has nowhere to put it. The link goes back to the plain form.
Printing and placing it
A PayPal code belongs where the payer is standing in front of you or holding something you sent: a card at a market stall, a tip jar, an invoice footer, a fundraising flyer or a slip inside a parcel for a repeat order. Print the word PayPal, your PayPal.me name and the amount beside the code, so the payer can see what will open and can type the link by hand if the scan fails.
Download the SVG for anything that will be printed. It scales to any size without going blurry, where a PNG has a fixed pixel size. For an invoice PDF or a screen the PNG is fine, and the resolution slider sets how large it is.
Keep the quiet zone, the blank border around the code, at two modules or more, and keep the contrast high. Scan the printed piece yourself, follow the link through to the amount screen and check the figure before handing any out.

Is my PayPal.me name or amount sent anywhere?
No. The code is generated inside your browser and the link is only placed into the image file you download. There is no upload, no account and no history kept on this page. PayPal only sees a request when someone scans the code.
Can I paste my whole PayPal.me link?
Yes, with or without https:// in front. The name is read out of the link, and an amount and currency already in the link are kept. Typing a figure into the Amount field replaces the one from the link.
Do I have to set an amount?
No. With the amount blank the code opens your PayPal.me page and the payer enters the figure. Set an amount when the price is fixed; it must be a positive number with at most two decimals.
What if I set an amount but no currency?
The link carries the amount alone, as in paypal.me/yourname/25, and PayPal decides the currency when it opens. Add a three-letter code such as USD or INR to fix the currency the payer sees.
Can the payer change the amount?
The amount in the link is a pre-fill, not a lock. What the payer can do on PayPal's page is up to PayPal, and this tool has no control over it. Check the final figure in your PayPal account as you would for any payment.
Can I add my logo to the code?
Yes. Under Branding, add a PNG, JPEG, SVG or WebP and it is centred over the code. Error correction rises to H automatically so the covered modules can be recovered. The code gets denser, but it scans as well or better.
